The long-awaited reckoning regarding the life and death of Jeffrey Epstein has reached a fever pitch. In the final days of December 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice released nearly 30,000 pages of investigative files, photos, and videos that had been under lock and key since the financier’s 2019 death. This massive disclosure, forced by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, has effectively shattered the peace of the holiday season, placing President Donald Trump and other global figures back at the center of a scandal that refuse to die.
Among the most sensational items in the release is a handwritten note purportedly penned by Jeffrey Epstein and addressed to Larry Nassar, the disgraced former gymnastics doctor. The note, which the DOJ has since flagged as “fake” following an FBI review, contains a chilling message: “As you know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home.” Most explosively, the letter claimed that the “president shares our love of young, nubile girls.”

The White House and the Department of Justice were swift in their rebuttal.
“To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already,” the DOJ stated in an official post on X. Investigators pointed out that the letter was postmarked three days after Epstein’s suicide and originated from Virginia, while Epstein was being held in New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center.
However, the “fake” letter is only one piece of a much larger and more complex puzzle. The newly released documents include a January 2020 email from a New York prosecutor stating that flight records show President Trump flew on Epstein’s private jet “many more times than previously has been reported.” According to the file, Trump was recorded on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996, several of which also included Epstein’s convicted co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell.

This revelation stands in stark contrast to previous public statements. “I was never on Epstein’s Plane, or at his ‘stupid’ Island,” the President had asserted in social media posts as recently as 2024. While the documents do not allege any criminal behavior by Trump, the inconsistency has provided fresh ammunition for his political rivals and the survivors of Epstein’s abuse.
The tension surrounding the release was further exacerbated by a series of technical “glitches” on the DOJ website. Journalists reported that over a dozen images—including one showing a desk covered in photos of Trump, Bill Clinton, and even the Pope—briefly disappeared from the online portal before being restored. The DOJ claimed the removals were made “out of an abundance of caution” to protect the identities of potential victims, but the move was immediately labeled by critics as an attempt to “shield the President from public scrutiny.”

“The more Donald Trump tries to cover up the Epstein files, the more we uncover,” said Representative Robert Garcia, a leading Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.
“These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what else the White House is hiding.”
The document dump also included a bizarre, computer-generated video that purports to show Epstein’s final moments in his cell. Experts have quickly debunked the footage as a deepfake that had circulated on social media years ago, yet its inclusion in the official government release has only fueled the “Epstein didn’t kill himself” conspiracy theories that have dominated public discourse since 2019.

As the 2026 midterm elections loom, the Epstein files have become a political landmine. While the President’s supporters dismiss the release as a “coordinated hoax” and a “distraction from his historic accomplishments,” the sheer volume of mentions—coupled with the DOJ’s own admission that “sensationalist claims” were submitted to the FBI—has ensured that the Epstein shadow will continue to loom over the White House for the foreseeable future.
The American public is now faced with 30,000 pages of evidence that suggest the social circle of the world’s most notorious predator was even wider and more influential than previously feared. As one survivor stated following the release:
“We aren’t looking for headlines; we are looking for the truth that has been redacted for far too long.”
